Aspire To Be An Inspirational Leader

Posted by Insightlink on 01/07/15

Smile More and Engage Your Team

At Insightlink, employee engagement is our ‘raison d’etre’, which is why we are excited to share Gordon Tredgold’s newest post for 2015. He gives the simplest and most digestible advice on how to become an inspiring leader, something all leaders should aspire to be, because inspiring leaders create inspiring teams, which can achieve inspiring results!
Here are his top 4 tips to make you a more inspiring leader in 2015:
Smile more
Smile at everyone, make it a part of who you are. Smiling builds a connection with our teams and makes us more approachable. When we smile more, we create a more positive atmosphere, which results in a more positive attitude towards ourselves and within our teams.
Listen more
When we listen more, we show our respect and that we value another person’s opinion, which helps build trust and respect in us as leaders.
Praise more
Recognition is a basic need for everyone and when we praise people, even for the smallest of things, we honor that need, which in turn encourages others to repeat those actions and behaviors. The more we praise, the more success we will have.
Communicate more
Let your people know what the goals are, why they are important and communicate progress frequently, ideally monthly, quarterly at the absolute minimum.

As Gordon points out, these tips are easy to implement and there is nothing stopping any of us from implementing them right away, except our own unwillingness to do so.
As we start a new year, let us all become more inspiring leaders and engage our teams.
